Volunteering

We are looking for eager volunteers to work at the festival in 2012, for the duration of the event and the set up and dismantling of infrastructure. We also welcome volunteers in the months of planning that go in to Big Tent.

Here's a range of activities that we are looking for assistance with:

  • Build up team in the week leading up to Big Tent
  • Traffic management
  • Recycling and waste
  • Assistance with crew catering
  • General catering
  • Traders Stewards
  • Assisting with various venues - set up/greeting/clearing up/checking equipment and assisting speakers/performers
  • Back stage team
  • Children's zone - workshop helpers
  • General stewarding
  • Information
  • Baby changing
  • Communications

What you get in return

  • Designated shifts, so time to enjoy the event before or after your shift
  • Refreshments during your shift
  • Space in the staff campsite
  • Mix and mingle with upcoming and established artists, authors, musicians, bands and more!

Bursaries for Volunteers - do you need help with travel and other expenses?

Wave of Friendship

Wave of Friendship is a great opportunity for volunteers to take part in Big Tent 2012. For volunteers from London there are bursaries of up to £500 in expenses and for Scotland only, there are bursaries of up to £100 to encourage volunteering in different parts of the country. You can apply for a bursary as an individual or as a group. So come on, there's no reason not to take part in Scotland's environmental festival!

Traders and Exhibitors

Big Tent attracts a family audience with an interest in local, quality, ethical, fairtrade and eco friendly products and produce. Market trading pitches start from £126+vat - this is for an outside pitch (you bring your own cover). If you are interested then fill in the TRADERS BOOKING FORM and return a signed copy by post.

Charities, NGOs, activitsts and local community groups are also welcome to apply for pitches (you bring your own cover). If you are interested then fill in the EXHIBITORS FORM and return a signed copy by post.

All submissions must be with us by Thursday 31st May.

Catering Stalls

Thanks for all your interest but we now have plenty of options to choose from so please don't send in any more request to cater at Big Tent.

If you are wanting to sell products for visitors to consume when at home eg jars of chutney or chocolate bars, then you are welcome to apply for a trading stand and use the form above.
