



















The Big Tent Summer School is a learning programme that has been organised by Transition Scotland and One Planet Food. Over the three days we are bringing together participants interested in learning, development and sharing skills for low carbon living. The Summer School takes place in Falkland in the run up to Big Tent so you can come early, enjoy the vibe then settle down to a fantastic weekend of festivities afterwards!
There will be three strands to the programe and whilst participants will sign up for one, there will be opportunities to come together as a group to network. The strands are:

The cost of the programme is detailed below and there's full and partial bursaries available. Cost can include specially discounted tickets to the Big Tent.

All programmes will engage head, hands and heart with workshops such as dry-stane dyking, gardening, animal husbandry, willow weaving, bee-keeping with debates for policy and solutions.
The Big Tent Summer School includes camping facilities and all meals over the three days. If you do not wish to camp we may be able to help you find alternative accommodation, although this will not be included in the Summer School fees.

Children's Programme
A variety of fun workshops including forest skills, practical skills and drama. Please note that the Children's Programme is only available for children whose parents/guardians are taking part in one of the other summer school courses.

A number of full and partial bursaries* are available for these courses. You may also want to consider volunteering at the festival.
*Bursaries for the summer school are flexible and are not means tested. They are based on what you feel you can afford. If you are not able to pay for this course, you will not be taking a bursary from anyone else who needs one. If you feel that you can make a contribution towards the cost, please let us know the amount that you feel able to pay. All costs relate to the cost of the summer school and any profit we make will go towards another event next year.
