SEStran aims to build a sustainable transportation system for South East Scotland, based upon making public transport the mode of choice for most journeys, encouraging cycling and walking for shorter journeys and increased use of car sharing to reduce the number of single occupancy car journeys.
It could not be simpler getting to Big Tent by public transport! Why? Because we've laid on regular free buses from the nearby train stations and various other pick up points.
Big Tent is located just on the edge of the village of Falkland in Fife. It's just north of Glenrothes and Dundee and Edinburgh are both under an hour.
The campsite is right next door to the main festival site so walking between the two is a breeze. The festival will be signposted right through and there will be stewards to guide you as you get nearer. For those coming by car, please follow the AA signs to the festival. Do not go through the village of Falkland - it isn't the way to the car park! Have £5 ready (or £4.50 if you buy in advance) for your festival parking (that's for the whole weekend).

We have been working with our partners at Stagecoach, SESTRAN, Friends of the Earth and ScotRail to offer you sustainable ways to get to the festival.
See ScotRail for timetables of trains from Edinburgh and Dundee to Markinch and Ladybank, the local train stations. Did you know that ScotRail also run a Kids Go Free ticket - up to two children can travel free with every adult off-peak all week.
Big Tent has organised free hopper buses thanks to the continued support of Stagecoach. There is also a regular bus service to Falkland - check timetables for more details. Our free hopper buses will drop you off in Falkland and it's no more than 5 minutes to walk to the Big Tent. There will be stewards on duty showing you the way and giving you a hand if you need it.

As a guide, the St Andrews bus will take approximately one hour to Falkland and the Glenrothes bus will take 30 minutes.
The cycle park at Big Tent is located close to the festival site and there will be facilities available to secure your bike. Also SUSTRANS have created a bike route from Ladybank Falkland (see here for the map of routes to the event). Bikeworks will be running a bike clinic so if your bike has any moans, groans or squeaks, bring it along and get the bike docs to check it out.
If you can't manage by public transport and are bringing your car, then think about sharing your journey. Our friends at SEStran have sponsored a special Big Tent Tripshare web site which allows you to meet up locate people who want to drive or cycle to Big Tent and are looking for some 'buddies'.
If you are coming from the South over the Forth Road Bridge, we strongly suggest you keep on the M90 following signs to Falkland Palace and do not go via the A92. By heading to the Big Tent from this route you will avoid temporary traffic lights on the Pleasance in Falkland.
